The Lost Dinner!
I am very disappointed today. It was my older son's birthday last Tuesday and I was hosting a birthday dinner for him tomorrow night - Saturday. His brother and his brother's wife and daughter were travelling from Sydney for the occasion while No.1 son was driving out from Canberra with wife and new baby and all were staying here with us. So Grandma was really looking forward to having all her gorgeous children home for the night. It was going to be fun and the dinner was going to be just great. The menu was planned, recipes checked and lists written. Beds made and the fridge filled. However not to be - I was diagnosed yesterday with Shingles just next to my right eye. So no contact with anyone for awhile so I will have to content myself with writing about what was meant to be.
Well to start off I had this great idea of doing a Degustation - went through recipe books for a few evenings and found what I though would be a good combination (I will write up a little later what I was going to cook and maybe those of you have enjoyed such a meal may like to comment and tell if you thought it was going to be more than enjoyable or whether you would have changed something) however we all (as in my sons) thought it would be too much right on top of Christmas so we are leaving it until February or March when we will make that date the postponed date for no.1 sons birthday.
So here we go with what was to be and isn't!
